The Event
- What is BiggerVegas?
-
BiggerVegas is an annual international conference and social gathering of gay men
of size and their admirers. This event serves a particular community, also commonly
known as Chubs and Chasers; a vibrant sub-culture of the gay community at large.
BiggerVegas is an annual event, held in Las Vegas during the US Memorial Day weekend.
The first event was held in 2009, as a one-time dual event in conjunction with ABC’s
Convergence. In 2009 we had the largest turn-out of any Chub & Chaser event in history,
with over 800 attendees representing over 20 different countries. Initially, there
were no plans to continue the event after 2009. However due to the great success
in 2009 and all the requests we received to bring back the event, we decided to
bring back the event annually, starting in May 2011.
In short; BiggerVegas is primarily a social event to meet other people in our community.
It is packed with social activities, excursions, and parties.
- Who is running the event?
-
BiggerVegas is run and operated by Bigger Events, Inc. (BEI).
BEI develops and plans the event under the continuous advise of BiggerCity.com, the
largest online community for Chubs & Chasers. The primary goal of this alliance
is to offer a special BiggerVegas full of exciting events and activities at a great
value. At the same time leveraging the extensive market reach of BiggerCity.com
to promote the event and bring in a large turn out.
BEI is also a socially conscious company, committed to causes that support GLBT organizations
and agencies that serve the community or provide health services for HIV/AIDS treatment
and prevention. With every BiggerVegas event, BEI will make a generous donation
from the event proceeds to a chosen charitable cause.
- When and where does BiggerVegas take place?
-
BiggerVegas is held over the US Memorial Day weekend (last Monday in May). The dates
for our 2011 event are May 26th through the 30th, 2011.
BiggerVegas is held in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada (USA).
- I am single. Should I go?
-
Yes! BiggerVegas is a great event if you are single. Whether you are a chub, bear
or chaser, there are many other singles who attend our events.
BiggerVegas is a great way to meet someone. If you ever felt out of place in typical
social events, because of your size, or because of your attraction to big men this
is the event is for you.
- I am partnered. Should I go?
-
Yes! There are always partnered couples at our events. Many people enjoy all the
planned social activities, the parties and the opportunities to socialize and meet
old or new friends.
Remember, BiggerVegas is what you make of it. So it can be a great place to meet
friends, participate in fun activities and enjoy a good time with like other minded
folks.
- I live outside of the United States. Can I participate?
-
Yes! International visitors are welcomed and encouraged!
BiggerVegas draws people from all over the world! At BiggerVegas 2009 we had
guests from over 20 different countries. Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom,
Argentina, Japan, Brazil, China, Spain, Germany, Australia, Italy, South Africa,
Belgium plus many other locations.
With the recent decline in the US dollar, attending BiggerVegas can be a very affordable
proposition for international members of the community. So, check your local currency exchange rate, book early, and lock in the low
prices before they go up.
Las Vegas also is a well connected city and you will find a great selection of international
airlines that service it. Stop by our Getting
There page for more airline information.
While English is the official language of the event, you will likely hear different
languages spoken by other participants during our activities.
Please be sure to review any possible visa requirements to enter the United States.
If you need a visa to enter the US, we suggest you secure your visa before booking
the event, hotel and flights.
- How do I participate and how much does it cost?
-
You can book your event package and hotel either online through our
Registration page or by Fax or Postal Mail.
Packages start at very low introductory prices, then go up over time as the event
dates approach. The earlier you book the more you can save on the registration packages.
For a complete list of packages and their pricing please visit the
Pricing page.
Hotel rooms are not included with the event packages. The rooms start at a low
$65
per night (plus tax and fees) for the US Memorial Day weekend. During this busy
holiday weekend, hotel rates go up significantly, so be sure to
book your hotel early to lock in the lowest possible price.
- What is included with my registration package?
-
Every package includes everything you need to enjoy and participate in select BiggerVegas
events, activities and excursions. For more information on the event packages and
what they include, please visit the Packages & Pricing
page.
Hotel lodging, and transportation to/from Las Vegas is NOT included with any of the
event package. You must book your hotel and airfare separate from your event registration
package.
- When is the best time to register?
-
As soon as possible. The event is priced to sell quickly and have the largest possible
turn out.
In 2009, some of the event packages and activities sold out just weeks after the
event went on sale (August 2008). The entire event and hotel also sold out before
the start date; leaving out many people who wanted to attend, but waited to long.
The event packages also get more expensive as we get closer to the event, and certain
activities have capacity limits on the number of participants. Your desired package
may be sold-out or priced significantly higher if you wait. Booking your event package
and hotel now is highly recommended.
Event Registration
- How do I register?
-
The quickest and most convenient way is to register
online with a credit or debit card. But you can also register by fax or postal
mail using the Fax/Mail form.
- What forms of payment do you accept?
-
We accept Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit or debit cards. We also accept personal
checks or bank checks by postal mail. If there is any availability; cash will be
the only form of payment accepted at the door once the event starts. Please note
that all prices related to the event, and shown here on this site, are in US dollars
(USD).
International credit cards can be used, and will be charged for the USD amounts shown
on the site. Your card-issuing bank will convert the amounts to your local currency
at the bank's daily exchange rate for the transaction. International orders placed
by postal mail must include a bank check in US dollar funds.
- Can I register by fax or postal mail?
-
Yes, but please do so as early as possible. We cannot guarantee your package and
hotel requests until we receive and process your order. Please allow for 48 hours
after we receive your mail or fax for processing. Pricing for packages will be based
on the date that your letter was postmarked.
- How is the charge going to show on my card statement?
-
Your credit or debit card charge will discreetly show as " " on your statement.
- Why do I need a BiggerCity.com account to register?
-
BiggerCity.com is the Presenting Sponsor and card payment processor for the event.
They are providing us their online billing infrastructure as well as the web site
development know-how. By linking your registration to the BiggerCity.com network,
we can better service your online needs and leverage their service and communications
infrastructure. It also allows for new tie-ins between the event site and the BiggerCity.com
online community to market and promote the event. Please note that if you don't
have a BiggerCity account, you can create one FREE of charge during your registration.
Once created, your new account can also be used to sign on at BiggerCity.com if you
wish to use their online services.
- What is a promotion code?
-
Promotion codes are a way we can offer additional discounts. The promotions will
be strictly for discounts on registration packages and may be given out on special
occasions and promotions before the event.
Promotion codes, if made available, will be published online (on this web site and
our Twitter account) or given directly to eligible participants.
- I registered, but I want to buy a registration for my partner or friend. How do I do that?
-
It's easy! Just click "Register" and follow
the process again. There can only be one event registration per web account, so
you cannot use your own BiggerCity.com account for someone else. If the person has
a BiggerCity.com account, simply select "Yes" when prompted and enter his account
details. If this person does not have and account, just select the option to create
a new account when you register him.
When prompted; make sure you enter his information under "Registrant" and your billing
and payment information under "Billing and Payment". Please make sure you have all
of his information in advance before you start the process. You will need his full
name, address, telephone, date of birth, email address, and BiggerCity.com web account
information (if applicable).
- When will my registration order be processed?
-
Online registrations are often processed and confirmed within 24 hours during normal
business days. Mail/Fax orders about 48 hours after we receive them.
- How do I check the status of my registration?
-
To see the status of your event registration order, just sign on to this website
by clicking the "My Account" option. From the welcome page you can scroll down and
see the status of your order.
- My registration order was declined. How do I register again?
-
If your registration order is declined, you will have to go through the
Registration process again to re-register. You can still use the same BiggerCity.com
account you have (or created) to register again.
- I registered, but I want to cancel my registration. How do I do that?
-
Please refer to the Cancelation Policy section in the
Event Contract for information about canceling your registration. Then
contact us with your request.
The Hotel
- What is the host hotel?
-
Tuscany Suites & Casino has been selected for
the event. Tuscany Suites offers an unprecedented value, great amenities, and a
good location within three blocks from the strip. The Tuscany is an all-suites hotel
with rooms starting at
$65
per night (plus tax andf fees).
- Do I have to stay at the host hotel to participate in the event?
-
No, but you are going to want too!... Being at the host hotel allows you to be where
the all action is. Most events are held right at the hotel facilities. Also the
free transportation to excursions and events is provided only to and from the host
hotel.
However, you can still book your event package without staying at the
Tuscany Suites & Casino. But be aware that some of the programmed events
like the pool parties do REQUIRE a hotel reservation and a registration package
in order to attend. If you are not staying at the host hotel, these special events
may have to be purchased separately, and in addition to your event registration.
Please read the events and excursion descriptions for any special conditions for
those not staying at the hotel.
You should also be aware that this site's Who's
Going? section also has a feature that can help you find a roommate among other
participants who already have a hotel reservation, and wish to share their room.
- How do I book the hotel?
-
The easiest way to book your hotel is using the online
Book Hotel page. This will insure that you will be located in our group block
and given our event group discount. It also guarantees your room, as it is pre-paid
and directly allotted from our own reserved block for the event. As an additional
service, when you book online with us, you can use the roommate feature to find
a roommate.
But you also have the option to book directly with the hotel. You can call them directly
at +1 (702) 893-8933 to make your reservation. Be sure to use our event group code
"12F47H"
when you call, and ask for the BiggerVegas 2011 group rate. There are a limited
number of guest rooms at the special
$65
rate, so early booking is very important. If you book directly; please make sure
you contact us afterwards with your name and reservation
number so we can update your records and ensure you are included in the activities
that require a hotel stay at our guest hotel.
- Is the hotel payment charged in full?
-
When you book the hotel online with us; Yes, your credit card is charged the total
cost at the time of purchase. We have a limited reserved block of rooms to sell
for the event and full payment is required to guarantee the special event rates
and room availability. While pre-payment may not be the norm when you book directly
with a hotel; it is the norm for many third-party online travel agent sites (e.g.,
Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) for the same reasons explained here.
However, booking your hotel stay is optional and not required to purchase your event
package. You can also book directly with the Tuscany Suites. If you book directly
with the hotel, make sure you request the event rate and contact
us afterwards with your reservation number and details so we can update
your records.
Please be aware that capacity is limited and the rooms are expected to sell out.
- I booked my hotel room via BiggerVegas.com, but I called the Tuscany and they don't have my reservation. Why?
-
We have an agreement with the Tuscany Suites and Casino, where we are allowed to
sell (through our web site) a block of rooms that is reserved specifically for the
event. This block of rooms is limited in quantity and allotted from a particular
section of the hotel for our event. Our agreement with the Tuscany requires us to
update them with the guest list 30 days before the event date. For this reason,
and because our booking systems are not connected, if you booked online with us,
the hotel will not have your information until 30 days before the event starts.
If you have any special requests or inquiries about your room, please
contact us directly and do not call the hotel as they will not be able to
help you. Once we update the Tuscany with our guest list (30 days before the event)
for our reserved room blocks, they will have your details and you can call them
directly for any special requests or information.
If you booked directly with the Tuscany (e.g., by telephone), you can manage your
room reservation directly with them, as scenario described above does not apply
to you.
- I booked a specific room type via BiggerVegas.com, but my Tuscany reservation shows a different room type. Why?
-
When you booked your room at BiggerVegas.com you provided us with your preferred
room type (King, Double, Smoking, Handicap). We submit your request to the Tuscany,
and they do their best to accommodate for it. However, the hotel has a limited number
of rooms and if any of these classes of rooms are sold out by the time your request
is processed, a different room type will be reserved for you. Unfortunately, they
have to work with the inventory of rooms available and at times certain highly-requested
classes like King rooms or Smoking rooms do sell out quickly. Should you have any
questions or issues about a room change, please check with the Tuscany to see if
they can accommodate your original request.
- Why do I have to specify the names of my room's guests?
-
Tuscany Suites and Casino has strict rules regarding hotel room bookings for events.
This guest information is required and provided directly to the hotel. We also use
the name list to check access to our pool parties where all participants must have
an event package and a hotel reservation.
The standard room rate includes up to two guests per room. A third and fourth guests
can be added when booking your reservation online, for an additional per night fee.
While you don't need to have all the guest names when you book your reservation,
you must know how many guests will be in the room and you must provide all the names
at least 45 days before the event starts.
- How can I find a roommate to share a room with?
-
For those who wish to share a room and perhaps costs, your can visit our
Find Roommate section to look for
room-holders who are seeking roommates. Click the Enote or Email links to contact
them.
If you already booked a room online with us, you can find a roommate by posting a
listing. Just go to the Roommate Request
page and post your listing. Potential roommates will contact you via Enote or Email
at your BiggerCity.com account.
DISCLAIMER: We, the event management and organizers, offer this feature as a service
to the community. We do not perform background checks on those individuals who post
or respond to roommate requests, nor can we get involved in roommate arrangements,
disputes, or problems. While the majority of people can share a room without issues,
the event management, the organizers, nor the hotel are responsible for providing
roommates, determining their suitability, or handling any issues that may arise.
Please be careful and choose your roommate(s) wisely. Make sure you have a clear
100% written agreement and understanding with the roommate prospect before committing.
Also, be willing to accept the risks (personal, financial, etc.) that sharing a
room with a stranger may bring.
- I booked a room, but I need to extend the dates. How do I do that?
-
If you booked the hotel online with us, you can add additional dates from the Book Hotel page. Please note that you can
only add nights before or after the dates you already booked with us. If you are
adding nights both before AND after your already booked dates; you must place two
separate hotel booking orders. One for the nights before your current check-in date,
and the other one for the nights after your current check-out date. All separate
hotel booking orders will be merged into a single order (reservation code) once
we settle the rooming list with the hotel (usually 30 days before the event).
After April 26th, 2011 you must call the hotel directly and add any extra nights with
them. These extensions must be paid to the Tuscany directly.
If you reserved your room by phone with the hotel, you must call them directly to
change your reservation.
- Will the hotel have Internet access?
-
Yes. There is wireless Internet access in your room for a fee. You can contract this
service once you check-in to the hotel.
Free wireless internet "HotSpots" will be provided in the hospitality suite, vendor
halls, and select public spaces at the hotel. This service is being sponsored by
BiggerCity.com.
- How do I get to the hotel from the airport?
-
Once you arrive at the airport you will need to pick up your baggage and then proceed
to either a shuttle bus or taxi stand. Taxi rides will take less than 15 minutes
and will cost less $15. Some rides may be shared with up to 4 persons. While the
line may seem long for the taxis, it does move quickly.
Because of the closeness of the hotel to the airport, the shuttle bus is not recommended
unless you have wheelchair requirements or need a power assisted lift. You will find
shuttle bus booths in the baggage claim area. No reservation is required.
- How do I cancel my hotel reservation?
-
Please refer to the Cancelation Policy section in the
Event Contract for information about canceling your hotel reservation. Then
contact us with your request. Cancellation fees may
apply.
Excursions
- What are the excursions about?
-
Excursions are extra activities that can be purchased to get the most out of your
BiggerVegas experience. At this event, we have a selection of great excursions you
can participate in. Please see the Excursions
page for a list and more information.
Please note that some event packages already
INCLUDE some excursions. Be sure to review your event package details and what it
includes.
- How do I purchase excursions?
-
You can purchase new excursions or additional tickets from the
Buy Excursions & Extras page. Some excursions have very limited capacity
and are expected to sell out, so book early if you are interested.
To purchase an excursion, you must first be registered for the event with the purchase
of an event package.
- I want to buy an excursion for my partner or friend. How can I do that?
-
Each excursion package includes one ticket for a single person. If you are attending
with a companion or friends, make sure you have the correct amount of excursion
packages for all. All excursions REQUIRE an event registration as well. Thus it
is not possible to buy an excursion for a companion that is not registered to
participate in the event.
When using the Buy Excursions & Extras
page, you can purchase multiple excursion tickets by adding the excursion multiple
times to your shopping card. The number under the quantity column represents the
number of tickets (persons) you are purchasing.
- How do I cancel my purchased excursions?
-
Please refer to the Cancelation Policy section in the
Event Contract for information about canceling your excursion purchases. Then
contact us with your request. Cancellation fees may
apply.
Merchandise
- How do I purchase event merchandise?
-
You can purchase select event-branded merchandise such as t-shirts, polo shirts,
and other products from the Buy Excursions
& Extras page.
To purchase merchandise, you must first be registered for the event with the purchase
of an event package.
- When will I receive my merchandise?
-
Merchandise products will be delivered to you when you check-in at the event. Unfortunately,
we are unable to ship these items to you prior to the event.
My Account
- How do I login?
-
Click the My Account option on the menu. The
web site will prompt for your username and password. This is the same username and
password combination you used when you registered for the event. If you used your
existing BiggerCity.com
account login, enter those credentials.
- I forgot my password. How do I recover it?
-
Account login services are provided by BiggerCity.com. If you forgot your password, you can use the
BiggerCity.com
password recovery tool to retrieve it. Please note that you will need to
know and have access to the email address you used with your account registration
at BiggerCity.com.
- My BiggerCity.com login does not work. Why?
-
Your BiggerCity.com
login will only work on this web site if you have purchased a registration package
from this web site and properly linked your BiggerCity.com account to it during
the process. If you have not purchased an event registration package here, you will
not be able to use your BiggerCity.com account to sign on.
If you purchased the registration package and the logon still does not work, please
make sure your credentials are correct (username and password combination). You
may also contact us for additional technical support.
- What is my event profile?
-
The event profile is where your personal
event registration details are stored. We need this information to create your personalized
event badge, keep in contact, and do your registration check-in for the event when
you arrive.
- My event package includes a BiggerCity.com Premium subscription. How do I redeem it?
-
To redeem your BiggerCity.com Premium subscription, you must have an active event
package registration. Once your event package registration has been processed and
charged, go to the BC Subscription
page to redeem your subscription.
- Why does the event profile ask for my cell phone number?
-
We are expecting a large attendance to the event, and to help manage the large crowds
efficiently, we will have an SMS (cell phone text messaging) service at the event.
This will allow us to send text message alerts to your mobile phone during the event.
These messages will be strictly limited to important event announcements, reminders,
and alerts (e.g., "your excursion is about to start. please meet us at the lobby").
Please note that your cell phone number and personal information will not be shared
with other participants. Also, the SMS service is limited to the event dates only and
if you opt-in for this service you will only
receive SMS alerts during the event (not before nor after).
Who's Going?
- How do I add/remove myself from the Who's Going list?
-
You can go to your event profile and update
the option from that page. This will enable or disable your BiggerCity.com profile
thumbnail from the Who's Going? list displayed on this site.
- How do I respond to a roommate request?
-
You can use the contact link provided on the roommate request listing to get in touch
with the person posting the roommate listing (room-holder). Please carefully read
the information posted by the room-holder, as many people will have particular or
specific preferences on who they seek as a roommate. Also look at the hotel dates
and the type of room offered.
If you feel you are a match, do contact the room-holder, clarify any questions you
may have, and work out and agreement. Be sure to read our disclaimer
here as well.
- How do I add or change the photo shown in the Who's Going list?
-
The thumbnail profile photo shown in the Who's Going list comes from your BiggerCity.com
account profile. To change it, all you have to do is sign on to BiggerCity.com and
upload a new Profile Photo. The direct link to your account settings at BiggerCity.com
is:
http://www.biggercity.com/members/myaccount.aspx. Your account login
is the same one you use for this website.
